The Century Project

Prior to the Century Project renovations, when a 1,500 lb elevator sheave needed replacement the new sheave was lifted through this hatch directly onto the mechanical room floor. The replaced sheave was then dropped on to the restroom floor and taken down the freight elevator. $100 million later, the hatch is still there in the restroom, but is no longer usable as access to and from the mechanical floor.

The Inspiration

The process of design build and idea development

  • 3D Modeling

  • Build and design as you go.

  • Testing, adjust; testing, modify; testing.

  • Onsite work requires time to test, adjust, modify, make parts, revist. Waterjet makes quick work of part making.
